FISHES
Oil on various materials
Since 1978

The first minimalist fishes oil painted by Laura Fiume on masonite originated from simple shapes like squares or rectangles to which she added marks indicating the mouth and the tail. Over the years this subject has become the leitmotif of the decorations of her ceramic objects and of many other elements of her production as a designer. Her latest fishes, carried out in 2015, show again her unmistakable sign (remindful of the Japanese ideograms as well as of Picasso’s ceramics on display in his Antibes Museum) that allows her to create shapes of totally invented fishes.
