ANIMALS
Oil on masonite · Since the 1980s

Animals are the subject of a major part of Laura Fiume’s pictorial production. Back from a journey to Ethiopia with her father in 1973 she was inspired by the animals she had seen in the Awash Park. Since then, her painting, initially inspired by that of Giorgio Morandi, became more colourful, and when two dogs and a cat entered her life she painted a number of works reflecting the liveliness and humour of her pets. Quite a number of those paintings are in the U.S. and in Japan due to her collaborations with the Work’s II Gallery of Southampton (NY) and with a company that distributed them in Japan.
